Sun Microsystems Completes New Energy Efficient Data Center

Sun Microsystems Broomfield, CO DatacenterSun Microsystems has completed construction of its new energy efficient data center in Broomfield, Colorado, the company's fourth green data center. The new facility will not only save Sun more than $1 million in electricity expenses, but it will also dramatically reduce the company's carbon footprint. Some features of the new green data center include:
  • Uses 1 million kWh less electricity per month.
  • Utilizes an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for backup energy which does not require batteries.
  • Square footage reduced from 496,000 sq. ft. to 126,000 sq. ft. compared to it's previous data center.
  • Liebert advanced XD cooling system
